GameStop Revenues Up In Q2

Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop announced its results today, saying that it had sales for the second quarter of $1.8 billion, up by 3.4 percent from the $1.74 billion earned in the similar quarter last year. The firm said it saw a 5.3 percent increase in new video game software sales in the quarter, which ended July 31. Net earnings for the second quarter were $40.3 million, up 4.2 percent from the prior year. The firm also reported it has opened up 99 new stores, year-to-date, with 48 in the U.S., 35 in Europe, 6 in Canada, and 10 in Australia and New Zealand.
