GameStop May Benefit From Halo:Reach Sales

Microsoft said yesterday that its release of its newest Xbox 360 game, Halo: Reach, topped $200M in the first 24 hours of availability, suggesting that Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop may benefit from the release frenzy. Microsoft said that the release was the best ever for the software maker. GameStop has been running major promotions related to Halo: Reach, including midnight openings of its stores on the Sept. 13 launch of the new Halo title, gaming contests, costume contests, and more. GameStop has not yet reported how it did in the launch of Halo: Reach, which it had said it expected to be one of the biggest game releases this year.
