Freescale Touts Green Efforts

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor is touting the firm's "green" efforts today, saying that it has reduced its CO2 impact by 42 percent since it began its Environmental, Health, and Safety initiate in 2001. The firm said the effort has saved more than 40 million kilowatts of energy and conserved more than 170 million gallons of water. Freescale said it is further targeting a goal of 90 percent recycling of the waste the firm generates, a reduction of water usage by 50 percent, and reducing its carbon footprint by 50 percent by 2015.
