Freescale Rolls Multicore Tools

Austin-based Freescale, a developer of microprocessors used in embedded and other products, said Monday that the firm is looking to make it easier for embedded designers to use multicore processors from the firm. According to the firm, its has introduced a new software product, VortiQa, which will help develops create applications for QorIQ and PowerQuiCC processors. QorIQ and PowerQuiCC are the firm's multicore processors. The new VortIQa will speed development of its processor technology, including taking advantage of such features as asymmetric multi-processing, symetric multi-processing, and other acceleration features of Freescale's processors. Programming and taking advantage of the power of multicore processors is significantly more complex than traditional, single core processing software.
