Freescale Expands Touch Sensor Line

Austin-based chip developer Freescale Semiconductor said this morning that it has expanded its line of products for the touch sensing market. The firm said it has added a new, ultra-low power capacitive sensor and associated, touch sensing software. The new MPR121 product is compatible with Freescale's 8-bit microcontrollers, and can be used for touch sensitive consumer electronics. The firms said the product is already being integrated into MP3 players from Audiovox. Freescale explained that the controller is its second generation of touch sensor devices, and will be available in production quantities in November.
