Five Startups Launch At Capital Factory Demo Day

Five startups are launching today at the Capital Factory, the technology accelerator program in Austin, as part of the group's second annual Demo Day. Those startups include Hurrican Party, a location-based social networking application, RecycleMatch, an online market for waste and recyclables, Smackages, a provider of cosmetic samples to consumers, Ripplefunction, a social media tool for promoting events, and Keepstream, a tool used for tracking and keeping social media. All five startups went through the Capital Factory's ten-week program, working with mentors to help launch their companies and attract investors. The Capital Factory was founded by Joshua Baer, founder of OtherInbox, Sam Decker, Chief Marketing Officer at Bazaarvoice, and Bryan Menell of AustinStartup.com. The Capital Factory said that it had approximately 200 companies apply to participate this year. Each of the startups in the program this year received $20,000 in cash plus mentoring from a number of prominent local entrepreneurs.
