Estacado Systems Acquired By Tekelec

Tekelec, a developer of network communication protocols and related technologies, announced Tuesday that it has acquired nearly all the assets of Estacado Systems LLC, a Dallas-based software development firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tekelec said the transaction complements its previous acquisition of iptelorg GMBH, a German- and Czech-based developer of SIP-routing software. Founded in 2004, Estacado Systems is also a developer and proponent of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), a protocol being used for voice-over-IP (VoIP) and IP-based communications. Tekelec, which is headquartered in Morrisville, N.C., said Estacado team members will remain in Dallas.
