Entrust Gains WebTrust Approval

Dallas, Texas-based Entrust Inc. announced Wednesday that it has become the first certification authority to meet WebTrust operational requirements for extended validation SSL certificates. SSL (secure socket layer) certificates are used by Internet browser software to guarantee that a web site is not representing itself as another site. The company said it passed accounting firm Deloitte's audit by meeting the requirements set forth by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, which were based on the extended validation guidelines generated by the CA/Browser Forum.
