EDS Scores $531M Contract With Guthy-Renker

Electronic Data Systems Inc. reported Tuesday that it has received a four-year, $531 million contract extension from direct response marketer Guthy-Renker. The Plano, Texas-based IT consulting firm said the new deal prolongs and expands upon its existing 13-year relationship with Guthy-Renker. According to EDS, it will provide direct-to-the-consumer business process outsourcing services to Guthy-Renker’s customer base in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere. EDS noted that the services range from payment processing and warehousing and fulfillment to call center and customer service. Founded in 1962 by eccentric Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot, EDS has been a Hewlett-Packard subsidiary since Aug. 26 of this year.
