Dell Ups Green Efforts

Round Rock-based Dell is ramping up its "green computing" efforts, saying Tuesday that it estimates that it will save more than $8.1M and eliminate approximately 20 million pounds of packaging material over the next four years from its latest push. The firm also said it has launched a new site--the Dell Greenprint Advisor--focused on helping business customers "go green." The savings come mostly from changes the Dell's desktop and laptop packaging materials. The firm said it is committed to ensuring that 75 percent of its packing components are curbside recyclable by 20212, and is planning to increase sustainable content in cushioning and corrugate packaging by 40 percent.
