Dell To Invest $1 Billion In Cloud Data Centers

Round Rock-based Dell said today that it plans to invest $1 billion in cloud data centers, to help its customers architect, validate, and build their computing clouds. According to Dell, the new data centers will be built across the world over the next 24 months. Dell said it will open 12 data centers this year, and 10 more over the next 18 months. The new data center effort includes both hosted cloud services for customers, as well as centers for Dell's clients to prototype and architect their own systems. Locations for the new data centers were not announced by the firm.
