Dell Develops CDN Solution

Round Rock-based Dell is setting its sights on helping service providers to create their own content delivery networks, with a new product, the firm said this morning. Dell said it created Dell Deliver, a content delivery network platform which uses software from EdgeCast Networks and hardware from Elemental Technologies, along with its PowerEdge servers, to help service provider create their own content delivery network (CDN) offerings. Dell said its Content Delivery Platform (CDP) is aimed at making it easier for network operators to own their own CDN. Elemental is a provider of transcoding technology; EdgeCast operates its own CDN as well as licenses out its software.
