Dell Buys Ocarina Networks

Round Rock-based Dell said Monday that it is buying Ocarina Networks, a maker of storage optimization technology. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Ocarina develops compression and deduplication software used to reduce the amount of data storage needed by companies. Ocarina was backed by Highland Capital, JAFCO American Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
