DeepNines Wins $18M In Patent Lawsuit Against McAfee

Dallas-based Deep Nines, a developer of network security software, said Tuesday that it has scored $18M in a favorable ruling in a patent lawsuit against security software firm McAfee. According to Deep Nines, a jury in the Beaumont Division of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas found McAfee's intrusion protection product, IntruShield, as infringing on a DeepNines patent. McAfee said in an 8-K filing with the SEC that it would "vigorously challenge the verdict through an appeal to the appropriate U.S. Court of Appeals." DeepNines and McAfee have been battling over the patent since 2003.
