DataStax Finds $45M For Apache Cassandra

DataStax, a developer of services and support for the Apache Cassandra open source NoSQL database, has raised a big, $45M funding round. The company--which is based in San Mateo, but also has operations in Austin--said the Series D funding was led by Scale Venture Partners, and also included Lightspeed Venture Partners, Crosslink Capital and Meritech Capital Partners, DFJ Growth and Next World Capital. The funding will go towards international expansion, channel growth, and product development. DataStax helps to develop Apache Cassandra, which is an open source, NoSQL database product. DataStax said its goal is to help enterprise users of Oracle's database software migrate their products to the open source Cassandra software. More information »
