data.world Gets $18.7M More

Austin-based data.world, which operates an online service which connects people with others on data projects, has raised $18.7M more in funding, the company said on Tuesday. The funding came from the family investment group of Pat Ryan, and also included Chicago Ventures, Fyrfly Venture Partners, Hunt Technology Ventures LP, LiveOak Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures, and Sherpa Asset Management AG, along with angels John Mackey (Whole Foods), Danielle Pruitt, Arthur Patterson (Accel), Walter Robb (Whole Foods), Adam Ifshin (DLC Management Corp.), Ralph Mack (Mack Capital), Adam Zeplain (After School), Scott Booth (Alibaba), and Kip Tindell (The Container Store). Brett Hurt, the Austin technology vet behind Bazaarvoice, is co-founder and CEO of data.world.
