Convio Rolls Web 2.0 API

Austin, Texas-based Convio, a provider of software for the nonprofit sector, said today that it has created a new Web 2.0 application programming interface, which will allow nonprofits to connect into its systems. The firm said its new Convio Open Initiative includes applications, integration tools, and APIs which will link the firm's software to platforms such as Facebook, Flickr, and Plaxo. Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are programming specifiations used by software developers to interface third party applications with web services and software. Convio's API is based on a web standard called REST, and will provide access to consituent records, group memberships, and other features of the firm's software. Convio's products are used by nonprofits and organizations to manage their fundraising efforts.
