Continuum Analytics Gets $3M From DARPA

Austin-based data analytics software provider Continuum Analytics has scored $3M in research funding, the company said Tuesday, from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Continuum, which develops Python-based data analytics software and services, said the new funding will go towards development of open source tools for big data processing, analysis, and visualization for DARPA, which it says will be useful for the interactive exploration of large, multi-dimensional data sets.

Continuum Analytics is led by Dr. Travis Oliphant, and has been developing distributed computing software and tools; the company's products include Python for Big Data, Anaconda, a tool for Python that enables large scale data management; and Wakari, a browser-based tool for navigating scientific computing data and code.
