Cinemark Brings Spanish Movie Soundtracks To Screens Via New App

Plano, Texas-based movie theater operator Cinemark, has tied with a mobile app developer in a move that brings Spanish language movie soundtracks to all of its theaters across the U.S., the company said this week. Cinemark said it has partnered with myLINGO, the developer of a smartphone app which lets moviegoers download Spanish audio tracks from studios, and synchs that movie audio with what is being played on screen. myLINGO's app downloads those audio tracks before a movie, and then darkens smartphone screens, disables audio and video recording, and instead pays the synchronized Spanish soundtrack for visitors. Cinemark said it expects to expand to other languages in the near future. Financial details of the deal between the companies were not announced.
