Cinegif Raises $500K For Animated GIF Images

Austin-based Cinegif, a startup developing software for converting videos to animated GIF images, disclosed that it has raised $500,000 in a seed funding round. The funding came from the Baylor Angel Network, the Houston Angel Network, and the Halo Fund. The startup develops software which converts standard videos into animated graphical interchange format (GIF) files, which have had a resurgence of popularity with the rise of social media sites like Tumblr, Instagram, and others. Cinegif's software help make it easier to convert videos into those GIF files, which are easier to include in certain social sites and on web pages. The firm said the funding will go towards sales and marketing of its product. Cinegif also recently launched a stock image marketplace for its GIFs. More information »
