Caringo Targets Hadoop

Austin-based storage software developer Caringo is taking on the Hadoop parallel processing software world today, saying it has rolled out a new product that connects its Caringo Swarm product with the popular software suite. Caringo said its Swarm HadoopFS is a connector for Hadoop 2+, which lets users of Hadoop directly read data from Caringo's storage sofware--rather than having to bulk load data before running a Hadoop job. Normally, users of Hadoop have to load their data into the Hadoop FileSystem (HDFS), to distribute data to all of Hadoop's parallel nodes. With Caringo's connector, those Hadoop nodes can all independently retrieve data in parallel. Pricing on the new connector was not announced. Caringo is led by Mark Goros.
