Caringo Signs Startup

Austin-based content storage software firm Caringo has signed on a new customer, Yap, a mobile speech-to-text service, the company announced Tuesday. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Caringo said that Yap, which allows users to dictate messages to their mobile phones, will use the firm's content storage software for their storage infrastructure. Yap's service converts messages into text and sends them as SMS to recipients. Caringo develops content addressable storage (CAS) software, typically used by enterprises for storing documents and other data.
