Black Sand Technologies Gains $10M For Power Amplifiers

Austin-basd Black Sand Technologies, a semiconductor firm which develops power amplifiers for the wireless market, said Tuesday that it has raised $10M in a Series C funding. Te funding was led by Northbridge Venture Partners and Austin Ventures, both current investors in the company. Black Sand, which is led by John Diehl, develops CMOS-based power amplifiers, which are used in wireless handsets; the firm's products replaces currently, Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) products, which, due to their use of higher cost GaAs, are more expensive than CMOS-baesd products.
