Bigcommerce In Migration Deal, As Magento Shuts Services

Austin-based Bigcommerce, which provides e-commerce software and services to new and growing online merchants, said today that it has been selected by fellow e-commerce company Magento as a partner. Bigcommerce has been selected as an approved, e-commerce migration provider for two Magento products, ProStores and Magento Go, which are being discontinued next February. Magento--which is owned by eBay--said yesterday that it was shutting down the two e-commerce offerings. The two products are used by mostly small and medium sized businesses, versus Magento's enterprise products. The software is apparently being used by around 10,000 customers. The Magento move may be a huge boon for Bigcommerce, which formerly was competing against Magento in the small and medium sized segment.
