AT&T Sets Smartphone Sales Record

Dallas-based wireless carrier AT&T said today that it has set a sales record for smartphones, selling more than 10 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2012. The firm said the amount is the record for the company, topping its earlier record of 9.4 million smartphones sold in the fourth quarter of 2011. AT&T also said it had its best-ever, quarterly sales of both Android and Apple smartphones. The numbers are further testament of the shift in the wireless market to smartphones, and the likes of Apple's iPhone and competitors such as Samsung and others in the Android phone market. AT&T said it is now seeing more than 110,000 smartphones sales a day.
