AT&T Buys Quickplay Media

Dallas-based AT&T said this morning that it has agreed to acquire Quickplay Media, a developer of over-the-top (OTT) video and TV services. Quickplay Media had been owned by Madison Dearborn Partners. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to AT&T, it will use the acquisition to help bolster its U-verse TV Everywhere offering, including extending its streaming television services to "virtually any device". AT&T said it would retail Quickplay's more than 350 employees and contractors. Quickplay Media is based in Toronto, Canada.
