AT&T, IBM Partner On Internet Of Things

Dallas-based AT&T and IBM said Tuesday that the two are in a new, global alliance, where the two will work together on the "Internet of Things"--the networking together of all kinds of equipment and hardware. Financial details of the alliance were not announced. AT&T and IBM said they will work together initially on creating new solutions targeted for city governments and midsize utilities, such as monitoring mass transit vehicles, utility meters, and video cameras. AT&T will be offer up its wireless network--as well as its resources at the AT&T M2M Foundry in Plano--as part of the effort.
