American Airlines Sues Orbitz

Fort Worth-based American Airlines has sued online travel site Orbitz and Travelport, claiming that the two have been looking to prevent its Direct Connect from taking hold. American, which has been battling online travel sites over their use of global distribution system (GDS) providers like Travelport, filed the suit Tuesday. Orbitz responded to the suit, saying that the lawsuit is the latest in a series of tactics which "limits consumer choice and inhibits competition."
