Alpheus to Open New Houston Data Center

Fiber optic network operator and data center services provider Alpheus Communications reported Tuesday that it will open a new data center in downtown Houston. Alpheus said the new 5,000-square-foot, raised-floor facility will serve enterprise collocation customers and will include high-density power and hot air containment systems. Chuck Sweeney, the company's senior vice president of sales and marketing, added that the Houston location will be interconnected by fiber optics with similar data centers already in operation in Austin and Dallas. Alpheus is a joint venture between El Paso Corp., a fortune 500 energy company, and Genesis Park LP, a regional, Houston-based private equity firm.
