Alereon Gets FCC Certification
Austin-based Alereon has certified a USB adapter with the FCC, the firm announced Monday. According to Alereon, the certification covers the firm's AL5605 Worldwide Wireless USB Adapter, which provides wireless USB for laptops and desktop PCs. The firm said that the move will help it to "effectively transition" from testing to global production of its products; the product certification is the first of several Alereon designs the firm expects to have certified by the FCC this quarter. Alereon's chipsets provide wireless USB support using ultrawideband technology; those chips are targeted for use in digital cameras, MP3 players, and cell phones to eliminate the need for USB cabling.
