Aereo Targets Texas With Online Broadcast TV

Aereo, a startup which is offering up access to broadcast television online, has Texas in its sights as part of an expansion, the company said today. The controversial company--which is backed by Barry Diller--lets users store and access broadcast television on their PC, mobile devices, and more, by tapping into a HDTV broadcasts via an antenna, and storing those for users for later playback. Aereo said that it is expanding into 22 cities this year--beyond its only existing market, New York--including Austin, Dallas, and Houston. The firm charges $8 a month for its device and service. Aereo already faces a legal battle against broadcasters, who are unhappy with the existence of the service.
