ACS Debuts Energy-Saving Software for Desktops

Dallas-based business process outsourcing firm Affiliated Computer Services reported Wednesday that it has unveiled a software-as-a-service solution that will help businesses slash computer energy consumption by up to 60 percent. ACS explained that the hosted solution leverages power management software developed by BigFix and could potentially save companies $25-$60 in energy costs per computer per year. The SaaS offering would also spare companies the expense of installing and maintaining on-site software, ACS explained, and help those companies align their energy consumption with other “green” corporate initiatives.
