ZenCash Hit By Yesterday's Amazon Outage

Dallas-based ZenCash, the developer of software-as-a-service, invoicing products, joined Pinterest, Reddit, Netflix, and many others in facing some downtime Monday, after Amazon had a disruption in its web services infrastructure. Zencash said its problems began around 10:38 p.m. PT, as Amazon began seeing issues in its US EAST-1 region, which took down its application. The app was restored at 1:46 p.m. PT. ZenCash--like thousands of other, Web-based startups and companies--relies on Amazon's web services to offload scaling of their applications and for storage and other services. Those are among the issues which have helped San Antonio-based Rackspace in its OpenStack efforts--to help companies more easily avoid single vendor infrastructure issues in the cloud.
