Xtendwave Gets SBIR Grant

Dallas-based Xtendwave, a developer of semiconductors for extending the range of DSL, T1, and other network technology over copper, said today that it has received a Phase I, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The grants was awarded to the firm's efforts with Southern Methodist University, and came from the National Science Foundation. Size of the grant was not announced. The firm said the grant will go towards further development of its technology for commercial use. Xtendwave's products focus on enabling network transmission over existing, copper wire landline. The firm said it is particularly focus on rural and underserved areas, and also to expand broadband access to unserved location.
