WhiteFence Acquires GetConnected Site, Intellectual Property

WhiteFence, a comparison-shopping Web site for residential home services, announced Tuesday that it has purchased the technology software, intellectual property rights and domain name of GetConnected Inc., a developer of e-commerce and integration platforms for big-box retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City and Radio Shack. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Eric Danziger, WhiteFence's chief executive officer, said the acquisition expands the Houston-based business' scope and enables it to immediately serve a broader range of clients. A privately held company backed by Adams Street Partners and the Internet Capital Group, WhiteFence allows consumers to comparison shop for residential utilities and other services, including electricity, natural gas, phone, cable and high-speed Internet. GetConnected is headquartered in Boston.
