UT Austin Gets $15M In Energy Funding

The University of Texas, Austin has scored $15M, as part of a huge, $377M funding effort by the Department of Energy, focused on accelerating scientific advances in energy. The DOE said that it is awarding $377M in funding to 46 Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs) located at universities, national laboratories, nonprofit organizations, and private firms across the nation. The funding comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as well as the DOE's FY2009 budget. UT Austin's $15M will go towards fundamental research on charge transfer processes that underpin the function of highly promising molecular materials for photovoltaic and electrical energy storage applications; the grants are funded over five years.
