Texas Venture Capital Investments Rise to $595.75M in Q3

Venture capital investments in 38 Texas firms rose to a total of $595.75M in Q3 of 2011, according to the latest numbers from the PricewaterhouseCoopers/National Venture Capital MoneyTree report, based on data from Thomson Reuters. The MoneyTree report, released last night, showed an increase from Q3 of last year, when 46 companies received $374.98M in investments. The state also saw an increase in money from Q2 of this year, when $280.13M was invested in the area. Texas bucked an overall trend nationally, which was down 12 percent in terms of dollars, and 14 percent in terms of deals, dropping to $6.96 billion across 876 deals, compared with Q2, when $7.9 billion was invested in 1,015 deals. Texas has now seen over $1.14 billion invested in the state by venture capitalists for the year.
