Terrabon Gets Investment For Biofuels Effort

Houston-based Terrabon, a developer of technology to convert waste to gasoline, has scored an investment from Houston's Waste Management, the firms said today. Terrabon, whose technology is based on research developed at Texas A&M University, also received additional investment from Valero Energy. Financial details on the new funding round were not disclosed. The firms said that the funding will go to advance scalability of Terrabon's technology. As part of the investment, Waste Management will help Terrabon secure organic waste streams to feed into its processes, which converts biomass into organic salts which are refinable into high-octane gasoline. Terrabon said that it has successfully demonstrated gasoline production from sorghum biomass. More information »
