SwRI Scores Battery Award From DOE

San Antonio-based Southwest Research Institute has scored another grant from the Department of Energy, worth $712,500, according to the DOE this week. The Department of Energy listed the firm as one of a number of companies, which collectively received $43M to help advance battery technology in the U.S. SwRI's project is focused on tracking physical expansion and contraction of lithium-ion batteries during charge and discharge cycles, as part of an effort to improve those batteries. The DOE a total of $43M in funding to help scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs to develop breakthrough energy storage technologies, as part of the Department;s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) efforts.
