Staktek Completes Southland Micro Buy

Staktek Holdings Inc., a provider of intellectual property for next-generation module technologies, reported Wednesday that its acquisition of Southland Micro Systems is official. According to its original announcement dated Aug. 21, Staktek estimated it would pay Southland Micro stockholders $18 million in cash. Staktek also said it would assume some $5 million in debt. Southland Micro Systems is a manufacturer of memory products with operations in Irvine, Calif., and sales offices in San Jose, Calif., and Boise, Idaho. In Wednesday’s announcement, Staktek said it intends to continue operating all three locations. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Staktek also maintains an ISO-certified facility in Reynosa, Mexico.
