SoftLayer Opens Second Dallas Data Center

Web hosting and data center services provider SoftLayer revealed Monday that it has opened a second data center facility in Dallas and upgraded its Dallas networking infrastructure after investing more than $5 million. The Plano, Texas-based company said its new facility features 220 new racks, which more than doubles its Dallas server capacity. SoftLayer noted that the new facility also boasts its own multiple power feeds, each supported by independent UPS systems and generators for failover. SoftLayer added that, as part of the expansion, its network backbone was upgraded. The improvements include three new routers, upgraded switches and DDOS and IDS protection.
