SoftLayer Expands In Canada

Dallas-based SoftLayer--which is now part of IBM--said Tuesday that it is opening up its first data center in Canada. IBM SoftLayer said the new data center, in Toronto, will give a local presence to customers in that country, with capacity for more than 15,000 physical servers. IBM said the new data center is a part of a $1.2 billion investment it is making in expanding its cloud services in Canada and around the world. IBM acquired SoftLayer in June of last year, to help the company gain a foothold in the cloud services market.
