RipCode Offers Up Solution To Flash Video On iPad

Richardson-based RipCode, a developer of hardware trancoding devices, said today that it has rolled out a solution to the issue of running Adobe Flash video on Apple's new iPad device. The iPad--which, along with other Apple products specifically excludes support for Adobe Flash--requires HTML5 thin client support for video streaming. According to RipCode, its TransAct Transcoder V6 can intercept Adobe Flash-based video requests, and convert them to HTML5 accepted container formats. Lack of Adobe Flash support on iPad is an issue for providers who do not yet support HTML5 or who are not pre-encoding their video. RipCode says it can translate Adobe Flash into a number or formats accepted by the iPad, including QuickTime, MP4 Progressive Download, and Apple's MPEG-TS.
