Rackspace Buys ObjectRocket

San Antonio-based web hosting and cloud services firm Rackspace said this morning that it has acquired ObjectRocket, which provides the MongoDB database as a cloud service. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Rackspace said the buy will allow it to provide its customers with a NoSQL database as a service offering, which it says is "significantly faster" than its competitors. NoSQL databasea are used for big data applications. Rackspace said it will first roll out ObjectRocket at its Chicago facility in early March.
