PayPal to Open Technology Center in Austin

PayPal Data Services Inc., operators of the PayPal Web-based payment system, announced Wednesday that it is opening a technology development center in Austin, Texas. The company said it plans to hire hundreds over the next three years to work at the new facility. Matthew Mengerink, PayPal vice president of core technologies, said the company is already accepting resumes and is seeking professionals with experience in product development, infrastructure, architecture, design, risk and engineering. PayPal added that Terence Spielman, director and general manager, will run the Austin office. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., PayPal also has locations in Scottsdale, Ariz., Dublin, Ireland, and near Omaha, Neb.
