Mosso Rolls Out Cloud Storage Service

San Antonio-based Rackspace said today that its cloud hosting division, MOsso, it has rolled out a new Internet-based storage offering. According to Mosso, the firm's CloudFS storage service will let developers store data on the Web, on a pay-as-you-go service. The firm will charge users $0.15 per gigabyte of data for storage, with free local transfers between the online storage service and managed hosting servers. The firm said that the new offering will be available in a limited beta until Q3, when it will open for the public. The service will be accessible via web application programming interfaces (API) -- and is similar to current offerings from Amazon.com's Web Services division and its Amazon S3 storage service.
