Monitronics Acquired For $1.2 Billion

Dallas-based Monitronics, a provider of security monitoring services for homes and businesses, has been acquired by Colorado-based Ascent Media, in a deal worth $1.2 billion. Ascent said Monitronics provides monitored business and home security system services to more than 650,000 residential and commercial customers, and had revenues of $272M for its fiscal year ended June 30, 2010. Ascent Media, controlled by business mogul John Malone, recently sold off two of its business units and said it is looking to acquire an operating company with proven management and revenues. Ascent said Monitornics will continue to be run by Mike Haislip and Mike Meyers.
