Kior Gets $50M From Khosla Ventures

Pasadena, Texas-based biofuels maker KioR announced this week that it is in the midst of doubling production at its Columbus, Mississippi plant, with the help of $50M in new funding from Vinod Khosla and Khosla Ventures. KioR said it expects the cost of the plant will be $225M, with the costs split between equity and debt. Khosla Ventures is a well known, Silicon Valley venture capital investment firm. Kior said it expects its Columbus II project will take 18 months to construct and start up. KioR's technology converts biomass into gasoline and diesel fuel. More information »
