Instacart Launches Grocery Delivery In Austin

Instacart, a startup that is offering up one-hour, grocery delivery from local stores, said this morning that it has launched its services in Austin. According to the company, it will start delivering groceries from Royal Blue Grocery and H-E-B, for delivery in as little as one hour. Instacart's service offers grocery delivery across multiple stores, so that users can mix-and-match their orders across companies. The company said Austin is the tenth city it has expanded into. Instacart is based in San Francisco. The company said it targeted Austin due to its "young, tech-savvy culture" and the location of a major university downtown. In its (slightly gimmicky) promo for the service, the company is making its first deliveries in Austin will be via horseback and local stable Texas Trail Rides.
