Infinite IO Rolls Out Network Attached Storage Accelerator

Austin-based storage software developer Infinite IO has launched a new product, which it says can massively accelerate network attached storage systems. The startup, led by Mark Cree, said its new NSC-055s helps accelerate metadata requests to its existing network-based storage controller, and serves up that data over 25 times faster than a typical, Flash-based storage system. According to Infinite IO, the new device installs transparently in front of existing storage systems, and intercepts and responds to the metadata requests used in network storage services. The new device costs $50,000.
